The Government of Kerala have appointed Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala Ltd (RBDCK) as the special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the Design and Construction of suspension bridge across Ponnani Estuary in EPC mode by inviting Global Tender. The Proposed bridge is a part of Coastal Highway project being taken up by the Government and will act as alternative route to National Highway 66.
The proposed Alignment crosses the estuary of Bharathappuzha / Ponnanipuzha in Ponnani. The Bridge is proposed as Iconic Bridge considering the key location in terms of Tourism and Port infrastructure with 200m clear span for the cable stayed portion. The DPR for the project has been prepared and submitted to KIIFB for approval.
